Style Inspiration: Gothic - Part 2

This “Style Inspiration” post is a continuation to the first post about gothic fashion, but this is about gothic decor.

Oh my gosh, the internet is so full of amazing pictures I can’t even stand it! I’ve crashed my browser so many times, when searching for beautiful pictures. I guess the only cure for this is looking for more...

Dreams About My Own Future Home...

I’m dreaming about my own home. I have planned to move out when I’m 23-years-old but then again, people have asked why hurry? I’m sometimes a bit confused for at first I was hurried to move out on my own but all of a sudden I was asked why I’m in a hurry. I guess I’m not but I will see what happens after a year, after all it’s quite a long time but so short in its own way...

I have bought my own stuff already which I know will have a place in my own home one day. And I have been looking a lot of photos of different houses and rooms and gathered ideas from them.

I love black and white and stripes and I would like black and white home, the white part balancing the black elements – especially in the living room:

I definitely want a lot of paintings and mirrors on the walls with detailed frames:

I also love imposing lamps and chandeliers:

I actually have that first one on the left top corner but I need to get tassels to garnish it with.

I would like a bigger bed than I do now and with elaborate headboard. I have always fantasized about a bed like this:

But this kind of bed will do for my first home: 

I would love a bed like this also: 

And with black and white striped bed sheets (of course!): 

And a bedside table, which I have always wanted: 

And a dressing table would be lovely: 

And an actual dressing room:

And since I do want to be a writer one day, I would like to have a work room with a writing desk:

I would love to get my antique stuff scattered around my home as well as my old antique medical bottles to my vitrine where they can be seen.

I love old, antique photos and keys and I will make sure they are everywhere...

I know that many of these rooms and things are still only a daydream but I will have my dream home one day!

Oops! Shopping Again...

Some time ago, I bought a new cellphone. It was about time, for I had had the old, old cellphone from the Stone Age never having a smartphone in my life! And I needed a new phone for my old piece of antique cellphone had started to broke to the point of unusable...

And then I found these synthetic boots:

And what started as ”just” a lunch with my mom last Monday stretched to a 7 hour long journey at the city center, the library and clothing stores! From the library I got a book about music theory and sheet music from popular pop songs...

But, oh, the clothing stores were pulling me in like a magnet! I tried a bunch of clothes on and I made some great finds from second hand shop also! 

I know the “Giorgio Armani” bad must be fake, but I like the way it look. I don’t really care about the brand name... 

You have no idea how good it feels to fit in dresses and clothes size S and even XS. I'm not that big after all...

Later, on another day I went on a hunt for high heels for the snow and ice has melted (if a few cold spells in spring doesn’t count!) and I have now declared my high heel season opened! So I found these beautiful open toe shoes with silver rim:

They were last of my size and they are synthetic and the lining inside is textile!

I got a new black-and-white striped skirt also – it was the last one of that size at it fit me perfectly! This is my outfit today:

Now I know I need to close the strings of my purse but all of the spring and soon summer clothes and shoes are filling the shelves of the shops and I can’t resist them... 

Style Inspiration: Gothic - Part 1

This “Style Inspiration” post is about Gothic Fashion – one of my favourites. This will be in two parts. The first one will be about gothich fashion and the second will be about gothic decor.

The Goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, having continued to be diverse. It’s a subculture which can be found in many countries. It began in England during the early 1980s in the Gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre.

The subculture’s imagery and cultural proclivities are indicating to the influences from the 19th century Gothic literature and horror films. Styles of dress within the subculture range from deathrock, punk, and Victorian styles, or combinations of these all, often with dark attire, makeup, and hair – but that is quite stereotypical to think all goths are all dressed up in black; they do dress up in colors, even though they might be quite dark colors.

The Goth subculture has associated tastes in music, aesthetics, and fashion. Gothic literature combines dark elements of both horror and romance. Gothic fashion is stereotyped as conspicuously dark, mysterious, complex and exotic. Styles can be borrowed from the punks, Victorians and Elizabethans. Goth fashion is sometimes confused with heavy metal fashion and emo fashion. The music of the Goth subculture encompasses a number of different styles, including Gothic rock, deathrock, post-punk, darkwave, ethereal, industrial music and neoclassical.
