Celebrating Finland's Independence

Today we celebrate our independence day in Finland – which, I must say, I one of my favorite holidays when going towards Christmas and New Year!

Over the years, it has become a tradition for me to go to the Tampere-talo to "Patriotic Festivities", to listen men’s choir “Mieskuoro Laulajat”, which is a day before the Independence Day. Going there has become a huge part of my celebration of Finland’s Independence Day!

I woke up early and got myself ready and I still had time! What a rare and remarkable feeling... I was at Tampere-talo earlier than arranged, but soon I started to find familiar people.

This year the choir had a new conductor, less singers and the whole concert was a bit different – but I think it was better in its own way!

For the last four songs a senior choir group ”Seniorikuoro Konkelot” came on stage to sing with the other choir. Both of the choirs’ voices matched so well with each other! Finally also the “Eagles Brass Band” (Tampereen Kotkien Puhallinorkesteri) came to play the song ”Finlandia”” which is one of my favorite songs of all times and is an important piece of my own celebration of Finland’s Independende Day!

I had not received any kind of invitation to upstairs for an after party that takes place after the concert, but one thing lead to another and there I was sitting at the table chatting with the other people. It felt so good to see people I still remember from my childhood and catch up with them!

There was a buffet where also I, as a vegetarian, could find something to eat. That is always nice... There were music, singing and dancing and the time went by so fast! Too fast. The clock was near midnight when my dad escorted me into a taxi and I went home. I had such a great feeling from the whole night and I was so full energy that I could not even think of going to sleep just yet!

Today I slept late and later on the evening we started to watch The Independence Day’s reception and drank sparkling wine.

We didn’t make anything fancy for food but even it was just pizza, it was self-made and that made it so damn good... After that we watched the after party of The Independence Day’s reception. I’m very proud to be Finnish and even I’m happy about our independence every day it is always great that on one particular day is dedicated to celebrate it!

Oops! Shopping Again...

Some time ago, I bought a new cellphone. It was about time, for I had had the old, old cellphone from the Stone Age never having a smartphone in my life! And I needed a new phone for my old piece of antique cellphone had started to broke to the point of unusable...

And then I found these synthetic boots:

And what started as ”just” a lunch with my mom last Monday stretched to a 7 hour long journey at the city center, the library and clothing stores! From the library I got a book about music theory and sheet music from popular pop songs...

But, oh, the clothing stores were pulling me in like a magnet! I tried a bunch of clothes on and I made some great finds from second hand shop also!

I know the “Giorgio Armani” bad must be fake, but I like the way it look. I don’t really care about the brand name...

You have no idea how good it feels to fit in dresses and clothes size S and even XS. I'm not that big after all...

Later, on another day I went on a hunt for high heels for the snow and ice has melted (if a few cold spells in spring doesn’t count!) and I have now declared my high heel season opened! So I found these beautiful open toe shoes with silver rim:

They were last of my size and they are synthetic and the lining inside is textile!

I got a new black-and-white striped skirt also – it was the last one of that size at it fit me perfectly! This is my outfit today:

Now I know I need to close the strings of my purse but all of the spring and soon summer clothes and shoes are filling the shelves of the shops and I can’t resist them...

Purchases for Beauty

I have made some purchases lately from a scarf to make-up, hair products to clothes and to a lot of shoes.

This was a scarf I had to have when I saw its gleaming crystals and studs. I have been using it a lot!

One day I heard there was a sale days in one of the shopping centers I go to and I found myself going shopping unintentionally. With me came these three pair of shoes...

... and I was like:

There was also sale days in one of the shopping centers I go often so I bought make-up, nail polish and hair products from there.

When we were window shopping with my mom, I was sucked in to a local clothing store just to see what was in there. There were a lot of teen rags but I managed to found something for me too.

Pantyhose, pantyhose... A girl can never have too many pantyhose... Especially when I found these pantyhose with little rhinestones on them.

I also found a lace shirt which totally works with a waist corset, but also without it:

I rarely find actual dresses for me for some odd reason I do not know... They are not made for me. But I found this gorgeous lace dress which I at first thought was too long and it was when I was in the fitting room without shoes, but I knew that with high heels it will be perfect. I also really liked the long lace sleeves – I don’t have dresses with long sleeves. It’s still a bit too revealing for the skirt part underneath the lace is quite short and on the waist there’s only a strip of lace which shows skin and I don’t like it so I prefer to use waist corset with this dress and before I can really use it, I need to get a petticoat under the lace also because it’s very electric fabric and is against my pantyhose and look silly.

My mom was asking do I have gloves and I said no and I needed a pair for my hands were freezing outside. Just when I was on the cash desk my mom brought a package with two pairs of gloves – red and black and the black ones had cute ribbons on them. I can always sell the red one’s if I can’t find any use for them, but since I have a red hair I think they might go well with it.

My mom was putting her wallets on sale while one of them caught my eye and my mom gave it to me - and it's not real leather, which is awesome. It was about time to change my wallet – my current one has been serving me for years! My new wallet needs a new zipper embellishment though. I had to put something on the zipper so I just put a ring with some silver plate on it. I need to get some really pretty zipper embellishment to it.

I got a lot of purchases for beauty but look at these beauties:

My shopping days are not over yet for next I have to go look for presents for my family and friends, a Christmas tree and ornaments to it... I can't wait!
