It Didn't Happen

So. Apocalypse. It didn’t happen.

I was actually scared about it to be honest. I was more scared earlier but as the date came closer I didn’t really realize it and so I didn’t have the time to get as scared as before. Still I wondered what might happen on that day. Everyone were posting funny pictures on Facebook like they didn’t care and I wished I would feel like them. But still I was a bit scared. I actually thought the earth will split and fire balls would come down from the sky - so silly.

I once read the news that the science men had found another Mayan calendar and it will take up to 7000 years from now. And thought it seemed foolish then to think about the world coming to an end then and I even blogged about it, it now felt somehow more difficult to handle.

The end didn’t come and now I don’t have any date to stress about it. I don’t know when the next “end of the world” is supposed to be coming (even they are foretold all the time) but NOW I will sleep my night much more better...

9012

Oh well... this was so coming. I came across this news about the science men finding the new Maya calendar. And it will take up to 7000 years from now. World just simply won’t allow its end in 2012 – it would be way too early
and bad for the business. But I now feel foolish thinking the world might end at the end of 2012 (yeah I was kind of one of those people). And now the end of the world in 2012 seems to be so yesterday.

I can only imagine the feeling upon those people who really think/thought the world is coming to its end on 2012. Poor suckers. This was so expected. The whole world and money and everything is spinning around of these kind of things that if there would really be the end of the world there would be a whole lot of money making upon this number. And even there has been and still is a lot of that it could be more.

And not to mention movie industry! But this time it will not be "2012" but "9012". It will take some time but the cash will rush in eventually... About 7000 years from now.

The end of the world has been foretold numerous times and will be foretold numerous times more. All we know is that yes, eventually the world will end but not that is it tomorrow or 1 billion years from this moment. I will sleep my nights well on this subject.

2012 – The end of the world?

It's funny because it's true...

The year 2012, the year with an ominous reputation. I just thought I would be so much more anxious even about this number 2012. It’s been said and written and fussed over everywhere. Even the catastrophe movie was made of the end of the world in 2012 and apparently it was very successful and everything – and I wasn’t that panicked. I mean I was anxious in 2011 thinking the next year coming closer and closer and what will happen then IF/when(?) something will happen and what would it be. I mean, the end of the world can be so many things… or ends… If not massive world catastrophes then maybe something else, a pandemic like Plague or Spanish flu or Nuclear war/World War III. Is THAT last thing made into a movie? (In the movie “Cubic” there is said that WW III came and even we survived, human race knew they can’t survive the fourth but’s it’s heavily related to the plot)

I know people are trying to make as MUCH of money they possible can of this. Hollywood make movies, people make a survival books for the apocalypse to come and some are trying to “save” people by taking their money or giving them false believes, for they are in such a fragile state of mind (a.k.a. religions and cults). I’m not interested in watching catastrophe movies or trying to read the holy bible from cover to cover trying to look for answers to ANYTHING or anything like that. I guess “The Day After Tomorrow” was the first (and the LAST) movie of that genre I’ve ever watched and I cried so much in the theater and even the movie was obviously too well done (except I don’t understand that part with wolves that had survived and attacked in the ship and all) my RAJA for “you are going to die” movies is more than full so I’ll pass... So I’ve not seen the movie “2012” because I am NOT using my money to a rip off and riding with this whole “the world is going to end in 2012” idea – and if it’s not those movie bosses with cigars are laughing harder than we ever could, maybe even after a total(????) pronounced apocalypse. They have not run away with all that money, so maybe they’re just as non-believer like the rest of us and the only worry on their mind is how the hell to use all that money?? And they are going to find another prophecy (relying on such a “fact” based story) which people adapt in their mind as much next for the next “very sure” end.

New Year’s Eve

After Christmas I count days to New Year’s Eve unintentionally. We went to see fireworks with my mom and meet my friend who was there watching the fireworks with her family. It was the first time something like this happened in Tampere at New Years Eve. By the exaggerated description of the site gave me and many other entirely different picture. And I thought it would AT LEAST be something like the firework show at Tampere Illuminations* ("Tampereen Valoviikot"). Last time I was there was over six minute long VERY
impressive firework show. Anyway! It was a nice thing which I hope will become a tradition or some kind. We had arranged with Kati that after the show we would go continuing to celebrate New Year at one of the local bars.

Blue Lagoon

My friend offered the first drinks and it was Blue Lagoon. It looked as pretty as it sounded. And it tasted so good. I had thought those “New Year’s Eve” Parties where everyone are counting the last seconds from ten to one was existing only in movies, I was off the roof when they were counting down of the last ten seconds of the year 2011. There was cheering and alcohol seemed to start flowing ever more after midnight. You could also wish a song DJ would play and after we had written our wishes with Kati we waited them to come and ordered another drinks.

The night went on like it always do; tequila shots, and cheap long drink. After a great night I went home in a good shape and realized I had not made any new year’s promises – hmm, now I have nothing to break/fulfill..?

Tampere Illuminations ("Tampereen Valoviikot") is an event which is held in every autumn, where the streets of Tampere are lighten for ten weeks. Tampere Illuminations consist of almost 200 light designs, which are hanged above the streets in the centre of Tampere. Traditionally there's also a firework show before the lights are being lighten up.
